Pollen, dirt, dust and other contaminants can be tracked in easily on the bottom of your shoes. Removing your shoes as soon as you walk in and asking your guests to do so too is a great way to help improve your IAQ and it will also keep your house clean!<\/p>\n<p>2. <strong>Have a consistent cleaning schedule.<\/strong> Make a point to regularly dust, vacuum, and mop the floors. Not only will your house look clean, it will help improve your IAQ and it will make you feel good too!<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>Take inventory of your cleaning products.<\/strong> Look for products certified by Green Seal or Ecologo&#x2122;. Stay away from any products that don\u2019t list their fragrance ingredients on the label, because those ingredients may give off toxic chemicals.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a list of other products that could be pumping toxic fumes into your home:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Paints, paint strippers and other solvents<\/li>\n<li>Wood preservatives<\/li>\n<li>Aerosol sprays<\/li>\n<li>Moth repellents and air fresheners<\/li>\n<li>Stored fuels and automotive products<\/li>\n<li>Hobby supplies<\/li>\n<li>Dry-cleaned clothing<\/li>\n<li>Pesticides<\/li>\n<li>Beauty care products<\/li>\n<li>Laundry sheets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4. <strong>Change your air filters!<\/strong> We\u2019ve said it before and we\u2019ll say it again. Change your air filters! Your filters are the barrier between you and the airborne pollutants in your home.<\/p>\n<p>The average homeowner should be changing their filters every 3 months.<\/p>\n<p>Wondering how often you should be changing your air filters?
