A micron is <strong>ONE-MILLIONTH OF A METER<\/strong>. Let\u2019s refresh on how long a meter is to help you put this into perspective. 1 meter = 1.09361 yards. To break it down even further: <em>1 inch = 25400 microns. <\/em>ONE-MILLIONTH of a meter is so incredibly small that it is invisible to the naked eye.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is, a lot of air and waterborne particles are so small to that we cannot see them with the naked eye. That\u2019s why most air and water filters are designed to catch micron particles.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some micron measurements for some common contaminants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bacteria: 0.3-60 microns<\/li>\n<li>Atmospheric dust: 0.001-40 microns<\/li>\n<li>Bromine: 0.1-0.7 microns<\/li>\n<li>Smoke from natural materials: 0.01-.01 microns<\/li>\n<li>Carbon Dioxide: 0.0065 microns<\/li>\n<li>Household Dust: 0.05 microns<\/li>\n<li>Dust mites: 615 microns<\/li>\n<li>Mold: 3-12 microns<\/li>\n<li>Pollen: 10-1000 microns<\/li>\n<li>Pet Dander: 0.5-100 microns<\/li>\n<li>Lead Dust: 0.1-0.7 microns<\/li>\n<li>Pesticides &amp; Herbicides: 0.001 microns<\/li>\n<li>Silt, fine: 8-13 microns<\/li>\n<li>Silt, very fine: 4-8 microns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringtoolbox.com\/particle-sizes-d_934.html\">https:\/\/www.engineeringtoolbox.com\/particle-sizes-d_934.html)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In summary, microns are super small.<\/p>\n<p>Why should microns matter to you?
