The arrival of spring means trees and flowers will bloom, and the weather will start to get warmer. For millions it\u2019s also marked by sneezing, a runny nose, congestion, and other irritating symptoms.\u00a0 In short, it can make you miserable! Fortunately, it doesn\u2019t have to be that way. Here are some ways you can fight off allergies this spring!<\/p>\n

First, try to reduce your exposure to outdoor allergens. Here are few ways you can do this:<\/p>\n

  1. On dry, windy days stay indoors as much as possible.<\/li>\n
  2. Remove clothes you\u2019ve worn outside and shower to rinse pollen from your hair and skin.<\/li>\n
  3. If you have to do outside chores, wear a pollen mask<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    When pollen counts are high, take extra precaution. To do this effectively, you\u2019re going to need to be aware of your current local pollen levels. You can do this by checking your local TV or radio station, your local newspaper, or you can go online for pollen forecasts. If pollen levels are predicted to be high, we recommend doing the following:<\/p>\n

    1. Start taking your allergy medication before<\/em> symptoms start.<\/li>\n
    2. Tightly close any and all windows and doors to lessen the chance of allergens getting in.<\/li>\n
    3. Pollen counts are usually highest in the morning, so avoid outdoor activity if possible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Of course, allergens don\u2019t only exist outside your home, they are often found inside your home as well. Here are a few ways you can improve your indoor air quality:<\/p>\n

      1. Replace your home air filter<\/a> on a regular basis. They are vital to the reduction of common allergens such as pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and more. Fortunately, we have all the replacement air filters you could ever need!<\/li>\n
      2. Use air conditioning instead of opening windows, especially when the pollen counts are high.<\/li>\n
      3. Vacuum floors often with a vacuum cleaner that has a HEPA filter to help reduce allergens.<\/li>\n
      4. You may want to consider using an air purifier in your bedroom to further help clean the air.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Over-the-counter medications such as nasal sprays and decongestants can also aid you in easing allergy symptoms. If you have particularly bad seasonal allergies, don\u2019t hesitate to see a doctor.
