In the world of architecture, \u201cgreen\u201d is a growing trend. LEED certification<\/a>, a rating system that determines a building\u2019s degree of eco-friendliness, is an award coveted by businesses worldwide. We have compiled a list of the greenest buildings in the United States, most of which are rated Platinum \u2013 the highest tier on the LEED certification ladder. Here are some of the highlights:<\/p>\n

Cor \u2013 Miami, FL<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The status of this building is yet to be determined, but the architects at Oppenheim have high standards. The innovative design features wind turbines built right into the structure.<\/p>\n

Clinton Presidential Library \u2013 Little Rock, AR<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Green renovations made in 2007 earned this structure a LEED Platinum rating. The rooftop garden absorbs rainwater runoff and regulates temperature.<\/p>\n

Greenway Self Park \u2013 Chicago, IL<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

This is Chicago\u2019s first eco-friendly parking garage. It houses 725 individual parking spaces, plus bike racks, plug-in stations for electric vehicles and spaces for car-sharing services. The entire building is powered by a series of six wind-turbines.<\/p>\n

Transbay Tower \u2013 San Francisco, CA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Still under construction, and slated to be complete by 2017, the Transbay Tower will be set in the heart of the new San Francisco Transbay Bus Terminal \u2013 built from glass with a rooftop park to absorb the carbon dioxide from buses.<\/p>\n
