The average person spends about 90% of their time indoors. On average, humans ages two and up drink at least 3.9 cups of water daily. You may have a furnace filter or water filter that hasn’t changed in a while. If you’re in the market for an air or water filter, you may think, “Can I trust Filters Fast?”
FiltersFast.com has been in business since 2004, and we are proud to have our own Filters Fast® brand private label for air and water filters.
Filters Fast® Air Filters
When it comes to air filters, you want to make sure that you’re getting the best filter for your home. There are many different brands, sizes, types, and quality filters out there, so how do you know if you’re getting a good air filter?
Filters Fast® Brand Air Filters are proudly made in the United States and undergo rigorous testing to ensure that they meet MERV rating requirements.
What does MERV stand for?
MERV is an acronym for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. You can learn more by reading our blog: What does MERV mean?
The testing process presents several different particles in three various size ranges:
- E1 is 0.3 to 1.0 microns
- E2 is 1.0 to 3.0 microns
- E3 is 2.0 to 10 microns
What is a micron? A micron is a measurement for particles that are invisible to the naked eye. In fact, humans cannot see particles smaller than 40 microns.
Filters Fast® furnace filters are tested with sensitive laboratory equipment that can detect tiny particles as they are sprayed through the filter. If any particles make it through, they are counted, and the worst test score determines the MERV rating of the filter.
Filters Fast® filters are available in the most recommended MERV ratings for residential use: MERV 8 air filters, MERV 11 air filters, and MERV 13 air filters. Filters Fast AC filters also come in 1-in., 2-in., 4-in., or 5-in. depth.
When do I need to change my air filter?
- 1-inch filters and 2-inch filters: Replace every 1-3 months
- 4-inch filters: Replace every 3-6 months
- 5-inch filters and 6-inch filters: Replace every 6-12 months
Filters Fast® AC Filters are made of high-quality pleated media and do not contain fiberglass. They are also available in a variety of common sizes.
If you can’t find the filter size, Filters Fast offers custom air filters. You will also find Filters Fast® brand compatible filters for Trion Air, AprilAire, Lennox, Carrier, AirTight, Trane, and more.
Filters Fast® Water Filters
The Filters Fast® Brand carries a wide selection of compatible water filter replacements for top refrigerator brands. A compatible filter will fit your appliance but is not made by the original manufacturer of the appliance.
Each Filters Fast® brand refrigerator water filter is third-party tested and certified to ensure quality. All Filters Fast® fridge filters are submitted for NSF certification, which involves a meticulous process and adheres to NSF certification policies. NSF stands for National Sanitation Foundation, the sanitation and food safety standard.
When shopping for a refrigerator filter, making sure the filter is certified by NSF is extremely important. NSF certification ensures that the filter is tested and certified to reduce the contaminants that it claims to.
Sometimes, you will see NSF/ANSI. ANSI stands for American National Standards Institute. NSF/ANSI Filtration System Standards is the leading industry standard for filtration products and systems.
The NSF certification usually involves the following steps:
- Application and information submission
- Product evaluation
- Product testing in a lab
- Manufacturing facility inspection, production confirmation, and product sampling
- Test result review and acceptance
- Contract signed and product listed
- Annual plant inspection and retesting
NSF Certifications Explained
Refrigerator filters can have one or multiple NSF certifications. Each NSF certification has a number to tell you what the filter is certified to reduce. Here is what each one means:
- NSF 42 certified means that the filter will reduce aesthetic contaminants. Aesthetic impurities are things like chlorine taste and odor.
- NSF 53 means that the filter is certified to reduce contaminants that cause health effects like lead.
- NSF 401 means that the filter will reduce one or more of the 15 emerging contaminants from drinking water. Emerging contaminants include pharmaceuticals or chemicals not yet regulated by the EPA.
Check out the NSF website for more information about the different NSF certification numbers.
Filters Fast® refrigerator water filters with a light blue label mean that the filter has an NSF 42 certification.
Filters Fast® refrigerator filters with a dark blue label will have NSF 42 and NSF 53 certifications, and most will also have an NSF 401 certification.
When selecting your filter, make sure that you check the specifications section to make sure that the filter has the NSF certifications you are looking for. Filters Fast® filters are an economical alternative to refrigerator filters.
